Holy Rood Church will host a Deanery Lenten Penitential Service with Bishop Declan on Thursday 17th March 2016, 7pm. All are welcome. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available for individuals during the service.

Pope Frances has written recently,

“With the approach of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy I would like to focus on several points which I believe require attention to enable the celebration of the Holy Year to be for all believers a true moment of encounter with the mercy of God. It is indeed my wish that the Jubilee be a living experience of the closeness of the Father, whose tenderness is almost tangible, so that the faith of every believer may be strengthened and thus testimony to it be ever more effective.”

A group from Holy Rood Church traveled to the Cathedral to join Bishop Declan and people from around the diocese for evening prayer on the 8th December 2015. Although we were a bit late (very bad traffic) – we were glad to be part of the evening, and we were presented with a pack of resources to use back in the parish and wider deanery in Swindon.
