Youth Ministry at Holy Rood

Welcome to the Youth Ministry page at Holy Rood. Click here for the calendar of events. This page is regularly updated so come back soon!

We want everyone involved in Youth Ministry activities and sessions, groups and events to feel welcome, at home and safe. Holy Rood Youth Ministry Team members and helpers will be following diocesan safeguarding guidelines and we expect young people, supported by their parents/ carers to look at and follow our code of conduct. Parents / carers will also need to have completed a YM consent form which can be downloaded here.

Confirmation Programme 2018

Registration for the 2018 Confirmation Programme is now closed. Arrangements are well underway for the start of the programme after Easter – please check the calendar for important dates.

We are looking to recruit and train suitable new helpers. Could you be a helper? As a volunteer you will receive support via the regular, monthly team building and training days. Do get in touch with us via the parish office or by email if you’d like to know more: and / or download an application form here: Holy Rood Youth Ministry helper application form

The Holy Rood Youth Ministry Team is keen to provide a varied programme of events, some regular and others one-off. If you have a suggestion for an event, please speak to a member of the team or contact us by email at and we will be happy to discuss it.

Regular events include:

  • film nights
  • adoration / Holy hour
  • Synergy Sports

All events are advertised on the church calendar and the Confirmation Programme calendar – see link above – and you can find out more information about the events there.

The next one-off event is a play by Rise Theatre called Romero – about the life of Blessed Oscar Romero, at St Joseph’s Catholic College on Friday March 16th. You can find out more by following this link! We would love to see you there!

Are you aged 16-23 years?

As well as local events we are often sent details of events put on in other parishes all over the country. One such event is a Young Peoples’ Seminar in Leeds this July, entitled “Being a Young Catholic Today”. There are a limited number of all-expenses paid places available to our parish – if you think you may be interested, find out more by following this link here, then contact the Youth Ministry Team as soon as possible to secure your place.
